Last year, over 400 guests attended Glynn Purnell and Friends’ Friday Night Kitchen. An evening that wonderfully showcased live culinary expertise and great laughter, held at the Villa Park Holte Suite.

October 2016, we see the fabulous production in its 4th year, and to help Glynn ‘crack his yolks and pig tales’, the Michelin-Starred Chef will cook a four course meal alongside 2013 X Factor Winner, Sam Bailey.

As well as performing on the evening, Sam will be Glynn’s glamorous Sous Chef helping to prepare a mouth-watering course in Michelin Star Style!

In preparation for the night, members of the #GPFNK team went along to the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, where Sam was playing the role of ‘Mamma Morton’ during the Midlands Stint of the UK tour of ‘Chicago’, alongside John Partridge and Hayley Tamaddon.

Juggling performing, recording an album, various other work commitments, whilst playing her favourite role ‘Mama Bailey’ to her three lovely children, we had the chance to get to know the singing sensation as she prepares for Birmingham’s most anticipated Friday night.

Discussing kitchen disasters, favourite foods, ‘Jam Tart Wednesdays’ and strange self-diagnosed phobias, the Leicestershire lass was an absolute joy!

Confessing to being guilty of the odd ‘Snaccident’ (accidentally eating a big bag of chocolate minstrels entirely by mistake) Sam told us when it comes to food; she likes to keep it simple. Having said, if she can’t pronounce a dish, if it contains mushrooms or has irregular clusters of small holes or bumps, she won’t be touching it, quote: ‘egg and chips all the way’!

During her tour of ‘Chicago’, she swore by her fabulously British chocolate biscuit and cuppa tea fix. Whilst at home, cornflakes with hot milk and spaghetti bolognaise hit the spot with jam tarts taking centre stage, dedicating an entire day to the wonderful pastry.

After we drooled over rumoured menu options and took a few ‘Fan Girl’ selfies, the team were hooked. Sam is a great addition to Birmingham’s greatest night out and we shall look forward to seeing guests enjoy her company and personality as much as we did.
